ORAL HYGIENE

Regular visits to your dentist and dental hygienist for professional oral hygiene are important for maintaining a healthy smile as is regular brushing and flossing.

Your smile is unique, so that means that your oral hygiene routine should be too. However, there are a few common areas of oral care that are vital for maintaining a healthy smile – including practicing good oral health habits at home. Our dental hygienists can help you maintain that healthy smile.

Flossing & Brushing

Flossing and brushing should be done regularly at home, in order to preserve the health of your teeth and gums. A general rule of thumb is to brush twice a day and floss once a day.

“Prevention is better than cure”. prevention is important when it comes to your oral health. When you first visit the dentist, they will ask for your complete health history. On future visits it’s important to tell the dentist if anything has changed in your health status. Here are the basic procedures that happen on a typical visit to the DentalPoint

Teeth Cleaning

Either the dentist or a dental hygienist will clean your teeth to remove plaque and tartar from our teeth. This helps prevent gum disease, bad breath, cavities and other oral problems. After they are cleaned, they will floss your teeth and polish them.

Dental x-rays

The dentist will also make sure to get an x-ray of your mouth. This can be useful for diagnosing diseases or problems that are sometimes unnoticed by a regular exam. An x-ray can reveal problems with the jaws, unseen abscesses, tumors, cysts or decay that are hidden from the naked eye. There are different types of x-rays available in our office like iopar (intra oral periapical radiograph), bitewing radiograph, OPG (orthopantomogram)
